I don’t think I like the idea of McLaren dismantling historically interesting F1 cars and selling the engines to someone else who will be modifying them and fitting them to a road car (even if that road car is a 930).
Maybe Lanzante is part of the TAG Group and this is a way to get some cash flowing b a c k into McLaren’ s c o f f e r s ?
I don’t know. Technically interesting, s u r e (I had never heard of that 930 testbed for the V6 the found inspiration in), but somehow troubling.
I wonder if some day in the future people will start dismantling these 930s in order to properly restore some McLaren F1 cars.

I have no doubt they were surplus to requirements.
But we are talking bout some of the best a n d l e a s t c o m m o n F1 engines ever. They ain’t DFVs. And some of them are actually very special - as in used in Lauda’s car when he won a British GP, as they point out themselves.
